The modern game of poker was first recorded around the early 19th century in New Orleans, and was developed in the gambling saloons. The early origins of poker are, however, likely to be derived through the influence of several games such as the European games of pochen, poque, primero, and brelan, and the English game of brag, which included the element of bluffing which is an integral part of poker. Texas Holdem is the most popular community card poker game. In community card poker games several cards are shared by all the players on the table to make their hand. The rules and popularity of Texas Holdem stemmed from the casinos in the western parts of the United States, and Texas Hold'em Poker is now the game of choice in the World Poker Series.
