The first Cricket World Cup took place in England in 1975, with the West Indies beating Australia at Lords by 17 runs on June 21. From humble beginnings, as only 18 One-Day International matches had been played before the first Cricket World Cup, the tournament has expanded from including only eight cricket countries to including 16 for the 2007 Cricket World Cup. The event is now a multi-million pound business. 2007 Cricket World Cup Teams16 teams will take part in the 2007 Cricket World Cup. These are the eleven cricket teams with One-Day International status (Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Kenya, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, the West Indies and Zimbabwe), plus five teams who qualified from ICC Challenge Trophy (Bermuda, Canada, Holland, Ireland and Scotland).
