Author: Brett Morton
Introduction This book is about just one thing: winning at roulette. It is not about playing roulette. Countless thousands play roulette every day - most as if they were happy to lose - reckless to a fault. I remember a conversation with a lifelong friend - a person of considerable brain and courage. In his job, he has gambled with his life but never with his money. "But you just can't win. The casino has it all stitched up. Look at the odds." "But I do win." My response troubled him. He knew /believed it. He wanted to believe me but his instincts were against it. His face showed his disbelief. "Oh! I'm sure you win sometimes. But you simply forget about the losses. The law of averages is against you. Mathematics proves it. Especially at roulette with that zero." "Forget zero - and forget even the American double-zero," I replied, trying not to sound too smug. "Of course, I don't win every time. Sometimes, you wish you'd never got out of bed, let alone gone to the casino. Some days you can't do a thing right. It happens." I paused for emphasis. "But I still win money, week in week out. I win far more often than I lose. I aim to maximise the winnings and keep down the losses." He smiled to soften his reply. "So, if you keep winning, why aren't you banned?" It was the last shot in his weaponry. "To the casinos, I'm just a flea. I don't go to the casino to win millions. I simply play to win. I expose quite a lot of my money to them - put it on risk if you like, over and over again during the course of a visit. That's what casinos want - the chance to use their built-in advantage to grind you down every time you place a bet. And why not? They're in it for profit." He was weakening. "So is this some infallible system?" I laughed. "There's no infallible system. But there are certain styles of play which can usually succeed." 1 |
