History of Coral

Here are some key events in the history of Coral.

1926: Coral was established and licensed in the United Kingdom.

1996: Coral became the first bookmakers to accept online sports bets.

1998: An important year in the history of Coral. Ladbrokes buys Coral for £375.5 million, but the deal is referred to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission and is eventually blocked by Trade Secretary Peter Mandelson, and Ladbrokes is forced to sell Coral again. Morgan Grenfell Private Equity buys Coral for £390 million.

1999: Coral acquired international online gaming company Eurobet from Bass for an amount of £362 million.

2002: Another key year in the history of Coral. The Coral management team was backed by Charterhouse Capital Partners to acquire Coral for an amount of £860 million. Coral Eurobet also launched its online casino in this year.

2005: Coral Eurobet is acquired by Gala for an amount of £2.18 billion.
